Unveiling the New Jeep Compass Black Shark: The Affordable Diesel Automatic Variant
In an exciting move, Jeep is introducing a new trim level for its popular Compass SUV called the Black Shark. This new offering not only brings a sporty element to the Compass lineup but also provides a more affordable diesel automatic variant by removing the 4X4 hardware that was previously standard with automatic transmission models.
Jeep Compass Black Shark – Red Hot Performance
The Compass is known for its affordability, and now with the addition of the Black Shark trim level, it becomes even more accessible to customers. This new trim is expected to fit in below the Model-S or even below the Limited trim levels in terms of features.
The Black Shark trim stands out with its bright red exterior color and black accents. The clever use of black elements on the Jeep branding, lower lip trim, and upper and lower grille adds a touch of style. The Black Shark badge on the front fenders is another distinctive feature.
The alloy wheels are all-black, complementing the overall look. While the body panels and sheet metal remain the same as the standard Compass, the addition of black elements enhances the design’s appeal. Inside, the Black Shark trim features an all-black treatment with sporty red trims on the dashboard and red contrast stitching.
The Most Affordable Diesel Automatic Variant
Until now, Jeep only offered diesel automatic powertrain variants with 4X4 hardware as standard for the Compass. This meant that buyers had to pay more for the 4X4 capability even if they didn’t plan on going off-road. The Black Shark trim solves this issue by offering a diesel automatic combo without the 4X4 hardware.
The Black Shark trim also comes with several attractive features, including dual-zone climate control, premium upholstery, a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, push-button start, and keyless entry. However, the fully digital instrument cluster is only available with the Model-S trim.
The Jeep Compass Black Shark features a semi-digital instrument cluster with a large MID display in the center. The pricing for this new trim level has not yet been announced by Jeep India. However, it is expected to provide customers with a more affordable diesel automatic option. The Black Shark trim is powered by a 2.0L turbo diesel engine delivering 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 9-speed TC.
