DAVAO City – Yvon Bisera revealed her affinity for the front nine of the challenging South Pacific course here.
She wasn’t kidding.
Ignoring the initial challenge posed by Mikha Fortuna, Bisera maintained a steady performance after the turn, securing the victory in the ICTSI South Pacific Classic. This triumph marked her first win on the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour.
“This win is incredibly meaningful to me, especially because I achieved it on my home course and in front of my family,” said 21-year-old Bisera. She took home the top prize of P125,000 with a total score of 215.
Bisera started strong with two early birdies, distancing herself from Fortuna who dropped two strokes due to bogeys on holes 1 and 6.
While Apple Fudolin put up a strong challenge, matching Bisera’s score of 32 at the front nine, the Davao bet proved to be more composed in the difficult back nine and maintained her lead.
Bisera ultimately finished three strokes ahead of Daniella Uy, who shot a final-round 69.
After being tied with Fortuna at the end of 36 holes, Bisera took the lead with a birdie on hole 2 and increased her advantage to two shots on hole 7.
“Having a two-stroke lead is a significant advantage for me, considering that I find the back nine quite challenging,” added Bisera.
Harmie Constantino, the winner of the Luisita leg and the Villamor Philippine Masters, finished fifth with a score of 222 after a 71, while Fudolin struggled on the back nine with a score of 43 and dropped to sixth at 223 after a 75.
Seoyun Kim of Korea slipped to seventh place with a score of 76, and Pamela Mariano finished eighth at 227 after a 77. Valley leg winner and amateur standout Mafy Singson had a score of 77, placing her at 231.
