Johnny Depp expresses his eternal gratitude to Dior for their unwavering support during his legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard.
“They stood by me every step of the way, which means a lot to me. They trusted me, believed in me, and never wavered,” Depp mentioned in an interview with the South China Morning Post on September 8.
Due to his legal disputes with Heard, Depp lost his roles in major film franchises like Warner Bros.’ “Fantastic Beasts” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
After finalizing his divorce from Heard in 2017, Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against her in 2019 following her allegations of abuse in an op-ed for The Washington Post.
Heard countered Depp’s claims in August 2020 by asserting that she had also been a victim of abuse throughout their relationship.
In June 2022, a Virginia jury found both Depp and Heard liable for defaming each other. Ultimately, the couple settled their defamation lawsuits against each other in December.
During Depp’s trial, Dior demonstrated unwavering support by not terminating his brand ambassadorship, as reported by The New York Times. Additionally, the fashion house solidified its backing by signing a lucrative multi-year contract with Depp in 2022.
Depp expressed deep appreciation for Dior’s support.
“Not many companies would do what they did. I am deeply grateful to every individual involved in the decision to trust and support me through thick and thin,” Depp stated.
“I will forever be indebted to them and remain loyal,” he continued.
Depp has been a Dior brand ambassador since 2015 and has starred in numerous ad campaigns for the Dior fragrance line, Sauvage.
Representatives for Depp and Dior have not yet responded to Insider’s request for comment outside of regular business hours.
