Online critics are outraged after Pennsylvania police posed for a photo with an escaped inmate they captured in Chester County.
Pennsylvania Police finally apprehended escapee Danelo Cavalcante, ending a weeks-long manhunt that involved a police dog biting him on the head.
After the arrest, the police force took a photo with the prisoner, who was wearing a Philadelphia Eagles sweatshirt while blood dripped down his face.
When questioned about the controversy surrounding the photo-op, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens acknowledged the situation but supported his team’s actions.
Bivens told reporters, “Those men and women worked incredibly hard, under challenging circumstances. They are proud of their work, and I have no issue with them taking a photograph with the suspect in custody. They ensured the community’s safety, and I thank them for their good job.”
The photo and video footage of the police posing circulated online, leading to further criticism.
