President Biden presents a seemingly straightforward funding request to prevent a government shutdown. However, upon closer examination, hidden within the fine print lies a proposal that is incredibly radical and tremendously concerning. This proposal aims to undermine immigration law enforcement by defunding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), effectively abolishing the agency. This move by the Biden White House is an exploitation of the manufactured crisis surrounding a potential government shutdown.
In his call to Congress for a short-term spending bill, President Biden, along with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies, claim that the funding proposal is “clean” and merely extends current funding without significant changes. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Buried on page 51 of the draft legislation is a provision that redirects all ICE funding to support community-based residential facilities and provide services to refugees, asylum seekers, and other migrants. This effectively transforms ICE from a law enforcement agency into a travel agency for illegal aliens and a grant-making bureaucracy for sanctuary cities.
The consequences of this proposal are alarming. It means that instead of protecting American communities, ICE funds will be used to resettle illegal immigrants across the United States, turning the agency’s focus away from deterring cross-border crime and illegal immigration.
President Biden has been working towards the abolition of ICE since taking office, and now he is exploiting the chaos of a potential government shutdown to push his radical agenda. This strategy mirrors the tactics employed by the “Defund the Police” movement, as it aims to destroy morale and divert funding away from law enforcement.
It is crucial to recognize the significance of this proposal and the dangerous implications it holds. President Biden and his Democratic colleagues should not be allowed to deceive the American people by presenting it as a routine funding bill. This is a blatant attempt to push a radical agenda while using a government shutdown as leverage.
