Unbelievable Revelation: Church Claims Nun’s Body Remains Intact for Years Without Decomposition

  • A small abbey in Kansas City uncovers the mystery of a nun’s miraculously preserved body.
  • Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster, who died four years ago, might be an “incorruptible.”
  • According to Catholic belief, some bodies don’t undergo complete decomposition after death.

A fascinating wonder awaits visitors at a small abbey in Kansas City — the incredible preservation of a nun’s body. Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster, who passed away four years ago, is believed to be an “‘incorruptible'” and can be seen daily from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm at the abbey in Missouri.

When the Benedictines of Mary Queen of Apostles exhumed Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster, they were astonished to find her body nearly untouched by the passage of time after spending four years in a coffin, as reported by The New York Times. Even her habit, the traditional headdress worn by nuns, remained in pristine condition.

Initially intending to reinter Lancaster, who passed away at the age of 95 in 2019, in a place of honor within the church, the nuns were compelled to consider her as a potential “‘incorruptible.'” This Catholic term describes individuals whose bodies miraculously resist complete decomposition after death, stated The Times.

An undated letter on the website of the Benedictines of Mary reflects on the “miraculous preservation” of Sister’s body and invites contemplation of the hidden gifts bestowed upon us by God.

If confirmed, Lancaster would be the first Black “‘incorruptible'” in the world and the first American “‘incorruptible’.” While most documented cases have occurred in Europe, the Times revealed.

“I used to think something like this could only happen in Europe, or St. Louis,” remarked 13-year-old Edith Riches, who volunteered to provide water to the visitors in line to witness Lancaster, shared with the Times.

The abbey plans to explore the possibility of canonizing Lancaster as a saint in the future, as noted on their website.
