Breaking News: Los Angeles Witnessed 13th Bus of Texas Migrants – Full Story Inside!

Los Angeles Welcomes Another Bus of Migrants from Texas

On Saturday morning, Los Angeles received another bus carrying migrants from Texas, marking the 13th arrival since June 14. Mayor Karen Bass’ office confirmed the news, stating that the city has been working in collaboration with various departments, nonprofit organizations, and faith partners to execute the plan devised earlier this year. The bus arrived at Union Station at around 8:55 AM PT today. This development comes after the city has already received close to 500 migrants from Texas, according to city officials.

Operation Lone Star: Texas Governor Takes Action

Under Operation Lone Star (OLS), Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been organizing these trips in response to the overwhelming number of immigrants crossing the border from Mexico. OLS is a joint operation between the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Military Department, aimed at countering the influx of immigrants, illicit drug trade, and human smuggling. Governor Abbott shared updates on X (formerly Twitter), noting that the operation has led to significant results, including over 420,800 apprehensions, 33,600 criminal arrests, 30,500 felony charges, seizure of 436 million fentanyl doses, and transportation of 33,230 migrants to designated “Sanctuary Cities.”

Abbott emphasized that Texas is taking the necessary steps to secure the border in the absence of President Joe Biden’s active involvement.

Los Angeles: A Favored Destination for Migrants

Los Angeles is a highly sought-after destination for migrants, especially since the city declared itself a sanctuary city. Governor Abbott expressed concern about the overcrowding and strain experienced by Texas’ small border towns due to the large number of illegal crossings from Mexico. He stated that Texas will continue providing relief to these communities until President Biden addresses the border crisis appropriately.

Communication Gaps and Concerns

Mayor Bass raised concerns about the lack of information sharing from Governor Abbott’s office regarding the shipments. She emphasized the need for coordinated efforts and notifications to ensure appropriate preparation for the arrival of migrants. Without advance notice, the city has faced challenges in terms of providing necessary resources like food and water to the arriving migrants.

Los Angeles’ Push for Sanctuary City Status

The Los Angeles City Council has been actively working towards formally establishing the city as a sanctuary city. In June, they approved a motion to pursue this status and later authorized the City Attorney’s Office to investigate potential crimes related to the shipments of migrants sent by Governor Abbott before June 14.
