Former RTÉ Star Ryan Tubridy Visits London and Meets with Piers Morgan
Ryan Tubridy, former host of the Late Late Show, was interviewed on The Chris Evans Breakfast show on Virgin Radio UK this morning during his trip to London. Tubridy caught up with Piers Morgan and shared a photo of their meeting, referring to themselves as part of “the sacked presenter club.”
Tubridy also had a chance to meet with Irish ‘Supervet’ Noel Fitzpatrick while in the city, documenting his visit on Instagram.
During the interview, Chris Evans introduced Tubridy as a “legend of broadcasting.” Tubridy kept his future plans under wraps but hinted at the possibility of doing more radio in the UK.
Possible Replacement for Tubridy on Radio One
With Tubridy no longer hosting the 9am slot on Radio One, there is speculation about who will take his place.
Tubridy gave a brief overview of his career, including his work on the Late Late Show and his love for radio. He also mentioned his past experiences filling in for Evans and other Irish radio personalities.
Amidst the conversation, Tubridy shared a story about receiving a ticket from Evans for a Beatles concert that couldn’t take place, resulting in Tubridy seeing Paul McCartney in Dublin instead. He also mentioned a framed ticket signed by McCartney himself, obtained with the help of broadcaster Gerry Ryan.
Tubridy shared that he is a big Beatles fan, having seen McCartney in concert nine times and hoping to see him again in the future.
The former RTÉ star also discussed his final episode of the Late Late Show, where Bono and U2 gifted him with a red, electric vespa, set to arrive at his house the following day.
After taking a call from a listener, Tubridy bid farewell to Evans and the audience. He later posted a photo with Chris Evans and actor Damien Lewis on his Instagram story, expressing his excitement about being on air with Evans.
It was announced last month that Tubridy would not be returning to his morning radio show on RTÉ. The slot was renamed The Nine O’Clock Show, and Oliver Callan and Brendan Courtney have been filling in for Tubridy in the interim.
