  • Meg Ryan shared her children’s reaction to her famous orgasm scene in “When Harry Met Sally.”
  • Ryan said her two children think the scene is a “very unique embarrassment.”
  • Jack Quaid, Ryan’s oldest son, previously said he was “proud” of his mother after seeing the film.

Meg Ryan revealed that her children find her famous orgasm scene in “When Harry Met Sally” to be a source of embarrassment.

The iconic scene from the 1989 film features Ryan’s character Sally simulating a fake orgasm in a deli to prove a point.

In an interview with comedian Carol Burnett for Interview magazine, Ryan shared that her two children, Daisy True Ryan and Jack Quaid, consider the scene to be a “unique embarrassment.”

Recalling a conversation with her son Jack, Ryan said, “It’s funny, my son just called me this morning and he’s in New York staying at a hotel that’s right across the street from Katz’s Deli. My daughter was here and everybody was on speaker, and they were like, ‘Mom, this is a very unique embarrassment.’

Additionally, Jack informed Ryan that there is an arrow inside Katz’s Deli pointing to the table where the scene was filmed, raising the question of whether it’s the actual table.

Quaid shared in an interview with InStyle in 2019 that he first watched “When Harry Met Sally” while preparing for his own romantic comedy film, “Plus One.”

He mentioned that initially, he avoided watching the scene featuring his mother, saying, “It’s one of those things, where if you really think about it, you don’t want to see your mom having a fake orgasm in a deli when you’re growing up.”

However, after seeing the film, Jack expressed immense pride towards his mother. He called her in tears, saying “I’m so proud of you!” to which she responded, “Ah, cool!”

Later, Ryan revealed that Daisy, at the age of 14, watched the movie when her fiancé John Mellencamp showed it to her. The situation became awkward when Daisy heard the infamous orgasm scene playing in the background, and Mellencamp refused to explain it to her.
