Dame Judi Dench’s Heartwarming Moment as Her Wish to See a Golden Eagle Comes True

The Oscar-winning actress, Dame Judi Dench, recently had the opportunity to witness a rare golden eagle in the wild during a trip to Scotland. Accompanied by wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin, the two were able to spot the magnificent bird while traveling to a secret location.

Using a monitor, the 88-year-old actress was able to clearly see two golden eagles soaring through the sky, with a kestrel nearby. She expressed her excitement, noting that the kestrel seemed to be having a tough time warding off the golden eagles. Dame Judi was overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude for the privilege of witnessing such a rare sight.

Yassin, who is familiar with the rarity of this encounter, agreed with Dame Judi’s sentiment. He explained that few people in the UK have been fortunate enough to see a golden eagle in the wild, let alone witnessing their impressive behaviors.

Dame Judi expressed her disbelief that she had the opportunity to witness such a spectacle and thanked Yassin for making it possible. She even pondered the idea of showing the video footage to others, as she never thought this moment would come. Yassin echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the significance of this experience.

Later in the programme, Dame Judi shared her passion for preserving natural spaces, a subject she explored in a previous BBC documentary. She discussed the changing attitudes towards caring for the environment, including the awareness of plastic pollution in oceans and rivers. She emphasized the importance of preserving what we have, as we cannot afford to destroy it.

Throughout the programme, viewers were treated to behind-the-scenes glimpses of Dame Judi’s life, including her grandson observing tartan being made for her and her partner, David Mills, who has created the British Wildlife Centre on his farm in Surrey.

This special episode of Countryfile, featuring Dame Judi Dench, was broadcast on Sunday at 7pm on BBC One and is currently available on BBC iPlayer.
