Burning Man Festival: Mud and Rain Delight Spectators with Double Rainbow Appearance

  • Thousands of attendees at the popular Burning Man festival were trapped due to heavy rain.
  • The rain also resulted in a spectacular double rainbow spanning across the festival’s playa.
  • Diplo shared the captivating rainbow on Twitter before eventually escaping the festival.

It was a breathtaking double rainbow, stretching across the entire sky.

Tens of thousands of individuals find themselves stuck in the muddy Nevada desert as a result of heavy rain during the Burning Man festival. However, this unexpected weather also brought forth a shimmering double rainbow.

Double rainbows often carry positive meanings, and are reminiscent of the famous 2010 meme featuring a man moved to tears by a double rainbow sight at Yosemite National Park.

Many festival attendees took to social media to share the awe-inspiring scene. One such individual was Diplo, the renowned DJ who managed to escape the festival with Chris Rock on the back of a pickup truck.

“Double rainbow and sausage cloud at Burning Man,” wrote Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Accompanied by a video showcasing the rainbow spanning the muddy desert terrain.

The nine-day art and music festival is currently at a standstill as organizers have instructed people to take shelter due to the flooding caused by the rain on Friday. The rain is expected to persist throughout Sunday.

Officials are also denying entry to the festival.

Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, attendees are finding ways to enjoy themselves. However, a doctor has warned that the situation could worsen for those unable to leave the desert within the next couple of days.

“If it continues to rain, preventing the use of vehicles for another three to four days, individuals may become stranded, causing resource shortages,” the physician told Insider’s Katherine Tangalakis-Lippert. “The port-a-potties are likely to overflow, mixing with the mud and rain, potentially leading to the spread of infectious diseases.”
