On Thursday, the 25-year-old Acuña married his long-time partner Maria Laborde in a spontaneous ceremony in California. Shortly after exchanging vows, he led his team to victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers and made a remarkable grand slam in the second inning, breaking a record.

Acuña and Laborde, who have been together for four years and have two children, initially planned to have their wedding in Venezuela after the baseball season. However, due to visa restrictions, Laborde would have had to leave the US for three months, prompting Acuña to quickly organize a wedding ceremony in California.
After the ceremony, Acuña went on to achieve a grand slam during the game, becoming the first player in MLB history to accomplish 30 home runs and 60 stolen bases in a single season.

“I’m very thankful,” Acuña expressed during a post-game press conference. “I feel very privileged.”
Acuña also saved a ticket from the game and wrote a heartfelt message on it for Laborde, emphasizing the significance of this day in their lives.
He added that he looks forward to going on a honeymoon after the World Series.
