Renowned Production Designer Chip Dox, Known for his Work on ‘General Hospital’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’, Passes Away at 80

Chip Dox, the esteemed production designer and art director of “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives,” passed away at the age of 80. His family confirmed his death earlier this month, according to an obituary shared with Fox News Digital.

“Sadly, Chip passed away on August 15, leaving behind an incredible legacy in the hearts of his loved ones, colleagues, and the productions he brought to life,” read the obituary.

Dox dedicated over 27 years of his career to daytime television as a production designer. His notable tenure included 17 years at NBC’s “Days of Our Lives,” where he earned a nomination and won his first Emmy for Outstanding Set Direction in 1997.

During his time on the show, Dox met Jeanne Haney, who would later become his wife. They worked together for a decade before getting married and had recently celebrated 29 years of marriage.

After his stint on “Days of Our Lives,” Dox moved to ABC and contributed to the production design of “Port Charles,” the nighttime soap opera “Nightshift,” and “General Hospital.” Before retiring in 2015, he added another Emmy to his collection.
