On August 26, 2021, a devastating suicide bombing took place outside Abbey Gate at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan, claiming the lives of 13 American service members. The attack was carried out by Abdul Rahman al-Logari, an ISIS-K operative who had previously been captured and imprisoned at Bagram Air Base. However, due to President Joe Biden’s decision to abandon the base, Logari was freed by the Taliban and ultimately carried out the fatal bombing.

In our new book, we expose the false narrative propagated by the Biden administration, which denies responsibility for the attack and portrays it as unpreventable.

Contrary to their claims, evidence from Pentagon reports reveals that the military and intelligence community had been tracking ISIS-K cells associated with the bombing in the days leading up to the attack. They had multiple opportunities to conduct preemptive strikes against these operatives but chose not to in order to avoid upsetting the Taliban, despite the potential to disrupt their plans. This information is corroborated by statements from various officers involved in the investigations.

These revelations raise significant questions about the Biden administration’s handling of the situation and its commitment to the safety of American military personnel. Despite receiving intelligence warnings about the impending attack, the White House failed to respond adequately and protect our brave servicemen and women.

The testimonies of witnesses and the actions of the officers involved further emphasize the lack of accountability and transparency from the administration. They have remained silent on crucial details and have not honored the memory of the fallen heroes by publicly acknowledging their names.

The American people, as well as the Gold Star Families who have lost their loved ones, deserve the truth and accountability. The White House’s attempts to evade responsibility and move on without addressing these grave failures are unacceptable. It is imperative that the full extent of the administration’s incompetence and negligence be exposed.

James Hasson, an attorney, Afghanistan veteran, and co-author of “Kabul: The Untold Story of Biden’s Fiasco and the American Warriors Who Fought to the End,” provides invaluable insight into this tragic incident and the subsequent attempts to conceal the truth.
