Gunman and Three Others Dead, Six Injured in Trabuco Canyon Shooting

Two individuals are currently hospitalized in critical condition, while four others are in recovery after a shooting incident at a well-known biker bar in Trabuco Canyon. The tragic event resulted in the death of three people, including the gunman who was shot by responding deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect has been identified as John Snowling, a retired sergeant from the Ventura County Police Department.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has announced that a media briefing regarding the shooting will take place later in the day. Specific details regarding the time and location will be released in the morning.

According to KCAL, the shooting was a result of a domestic dispute between the gunman and his wife, who was one of the victims. Five of the six injured individuals suffered gunshot wounds, while the nature of the sixth person’s injuries remains unknown. They were all transported to Providence Mission Hospital, with two in critical condition and four in stable condition.

While the investigation is ongoing, witnesses have reported that the gunman was an older man with a gray beard. Multiple bodies covered with sheets can be seen in video footage taken at the scene.

Undersheriff Jeff Hallock has stated that at least one weapon believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered. The authorities are interviewing around 30 to 40 witnesses and processing the scene for evidence.

Several streets in the vicinity were closed as law enforcement and ambulance crews responded to the incident. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office confirmed that they are monitoring the situation and coordinating with local officials.

Known as one of the most famous biker bars in Southern California, Cook’s Corner has a long history dating back to the late 1800s. The tragedy took place during the establishment’s weekly spaghetti dinner special, which was accompanied by live music.

Social media posts from witnesses recount the horrifying moments when gunfire erupted inside the bar. One witness reported seeing the gunman flee to the parking lot and retrieve what appeared to be a rifle or shotgun from a silver pickup truck.

Lawmakers, including Sen. Dave Min and Rep. Katie Porter, expressed their condolences and called for action to prevent such senseless acts of gun violence.

Undersheriff Hallock stated that incidents like this are not common in Orange County.
