Netizens grieve loss of popular ‘Swole doge vs Cheems’ meme star Balltze

The sudden demise of Cheems, the viral meme dog of the Shiba Inu breed, has left netizens in despair and tears. Cheems took the internet by storm and became an iconic meme figure. Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 12 during his thoracentesis surgery.

The celebrity dog had plans for chemotherapy and other treatments after the surgery, but his health condition worsened, leading to his untimely death during the procedure. The news was shared through an Instagram post on his official account. The dog’s owner expressed, “He peacefully fell asleep on Friday morning during his final thoracentesis surgery. Originally, we had hoped to arrange further treatment options, but it was too late.”

“Please don’t be sad, but instead, remember the joy that Balltze brought to the world. A Shiba Inu with a round, smiling face, he connected people and brought happiness to many during these challenging times. His mission on earth has been fulfilled,” continued the owner’s post.

Known as Pup Balltze, the dog gained popularity in the mid-2010s when his funny photo went viral. Eventually, his image became a popular way to express discomfort or weakness in various situations.

“I believe he is now running freely in the sky, enjoying delicious food with his new friends. He will always hold a special place in my heart. My only humble request is for him to continue bringing joy to everyone in the online world,” added the owner in the post.

“He is a legend of the Internet world, a meme pioneer, and now he is immortal. Rest in love, sweet Ball Ball. You were and will always be loved by billions around the globe,” lamented one user on Balltze’s post.

The dog, named Cheems, was raised by a woman named Kathy in Hong Kong. He was adopted at the age of 1, and his Instagram account was created in 2015. Kathy regularly shared Cheems’ daily mood pictures on the platform.

The dog became known for his love for cheeseburgers, which led to his popular nickname, “Cheems.” As the meme market expanded on social media, Cheems’ fame grew even more. His passing garnered heartfelt tributes and messages from fans across the internet.
