During a preseason game against the New York Jets, John Wolford, the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, caused a frightening scene when he was carted off the field on a spine board at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Despite his neck injury, Wolford managed to give a ‘thumbs up’ sign to the shocked crowd as he was being taken away.

Fortunately, the Buccaneers reported that Wolford has feeling in all extremities, and he was immediately taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

While relief for Kyle Trask, Wolford was tackled by Jalyn Holmes, causing his head to make contact with the turf. Although the hit wasn’t overly severe, Wolford remained down on the ground, prompting quick action from the Bucs players who urgently called for trainers. They rushed to assist the 27-year-old quarterback.

The incident at MetLife Stadium was one of two alarming moments during NFL preseason games on Saturday. Isaiah Bolden, a rookie cornerback for the New England Patriots, also had to be taken off the field on a stretcher in Green Bay after colliding with a teammate. Bolden, like Wolford, retains feeling in all extremities and is currently hospitalized.
