Bryce Young, the rookie quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, has faced significant pressure during his preseason snaps in the NFL. However, his head coach believes he has performed well under these circumstances.

Frank Reich commented that Young looked sharp in his second preseason game, despite constant pressure from the New York Giants.

Reich stated, “He put together a nice drive. Would have liked to have finished it off [with a touchdown]. Obviously, unhappy with the number of penalties we had. But I thought Bryce looked sharp. I think he wanted to throw the ball more, but I thought he looked sharp.”

Although Young’s statistics in Friday’s game were not outstanding (3-of-6 passing for 35 yards), he faced pressure on 42.9% of his dropbacks, according to Next Gen Stats. Despite being sacked once and facing penalties, Reich praised Young’s ability to sense pressure and make the right protection calls.

Young managed to lead the Panthers down the field on his second drive, completing passes to his teammates for first downs. While the team only scored three points during Young’s two drives, it was an improvement compared to their shutout in the previous preseason game.

Reflecting on his performance, Young acknowledged the importance of putting points on the board and emphasized his commitment to continuous improvement. He also highlighted the improved communication within the offensive unit as a positive outcome from the game.

Considering this might have been Young’s final game action before the regular season begins, the decision of whether he will play in the Panthers’ preseason finale remains uncertain. Regardless, Young trusts the coaches and their judgment on his readiness for the regular season.
