Motorcyclist Involved in Police Chase Crashes and Tragically Succumbs to Injuries

A 36-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life after attempting to evade police and subsequently crashing in Anaheim, as reported by authorities on Saturday.

The incident unfolded at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, when Clinton Agapinan caught the attention of Anaheim police near Haster Street and Katella Avenue, according to Sgt. Jon McClintock of the Anaheim Police Department.

Although the police officers did not initiate a pursuit, they later discovered that Agapinan had crashed while seemingly traveling at a high speed in the vicinity of Katella Avenue and Stadium Crossing, added McClintock.

While rendering first aid to Agapinan, the officers made an unexpected discovery – he had a weapon in his possession, which they promptly seized. Agapinan reportedly became combative, leading the police to restrain him using handcuffs for their safety.

Unfortunately, Agapinan began experiencing medical distress while still in handcuffs. The police immediately resumed providing medical assistance, and Anaheim Fire & Rescue paramedics were summoned. Agapinan was then transported to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The exact time of his passing remains unclear, and the cause of death will be determined by the coroner.

The Anaheim Police Department Traffic Detail dispatched investigators to examine the collision, while the Orange County District Attorney’s Office investigators, along with assistance from Anaheim PD Homicide detectives, responded to investigate the incident. Concurrent investigations will also be carried out by the Major Incident Review Team and Internal Affairs.
