Study Shows One in Five Men Admitted Damaging Their Cars While Parking – a Higher Likelihood Compared to Women

Study Reveals: Men are More Likely to Damage Their Cars While Parking Compared to Women

  • According to a new study, six percent of men had seven accidents in the last year.
  • Only 14 percent of females were involved in a minor collision in the last year.

Contrary to popular belief, a new study suggests that men are more likely to be involved in car accidents while parking than women.

The study reveals that men have a higher rate of mishaps when attempting to park, but they also tend to believe they are skilled at it.

Approximately 21 percent of male drivers admitted to being involved in a minor collision while parking in the last year, compared to only 14 percent of females.

These collisions included hitting other vehicles, bollards, walls, and fences while trying to maneuver into parking spaces.

Furthermore, 16 percent of men have hit another car or stationary object up to four times while parking in the last year, compared to only eight percent of women. Men also have a 50 percent higher likelihood of hitting another car while parking than women. Six percent of men admitted to having up to seven accidents in the given timeframe, while only four percent of women reported the same.

Interestingly, despite the findings indicating that women are better at parking, 53 percent of men still rate themselves as good parkers, compared to only 37 percent of women.

The insurance firm Forbes Advisor conducted a survey of 2,000 UK adults, asking about the number of car accidents they had while parking from July of last year to August of this year.

23 percent of respondents from both sexes confessed to hitting or scraping obstacles while parking in the past year
