Jimmy Graham, tight end for the New Orleans Saints, apprehended following a troubling ‘medical incident’

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was apprehended on Friday night following a “medical episode,” as conveyed by the team’s official statement.

According to a report from TMZ, Graham, who is 36 years old, was placed under custody by law enforcement officers who suspected him of being influenced by a controlled substance. This incident occurred after authorities received a report about an individual displaying erratic behavior near a resort in Southern California.

The team explained, “Last evening, New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham encountered a disorienting medical episode, leading to his apprehension by local authorities. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation, where Dr. John Amoss suspects it was most likely a seizure. Graham remained under medical supervision and underwent testing throughout the night.”

Graham was discharged from the hospital Saturday morning and is presently accompanying the team as they prepare for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The team has not provided an update on Graham’s condition or confirmed his participation in Sunday’s match.

Graham rejoined the New Orleans Saints in July, having been signed to a one-year contract. Initially drafted by the Saints in 2010, he remained with the team until 2015, after which he joined the Seattle Seahawks for three years. Subsequently, he spent two-year terms with the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.

The five-time Pro Bowl athlete had not played in the NFL since 2021, during his time with the Chicago Bears.
