Criticism Awaits Taylor Swift Fans for Overwhelming Jack Antonoff’s Wedding Rehearsal

  • A swarm of Swifties gathered at the wedding rehearsal of Jack Antonoff in New Jersey, hoping for a glimpse of Taylor Swift.
  • Footage circulating online shows that police were called to the event as the Swifties chanted for Taylor.
  • This incident sparked criticism from those who felt that the fans’ behavior was inappropriate and disrespectful.

Swifties who flocked to Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley’s wedding rehearsal with hopes of seeing Taylor Swift find themselves in hot water, as many criticize their invasion of a private event.

Two videos posted by Pop Crave on Friday revealed the massive crowds that gathered outside the Blue Whale restaurant in Long Island Beach, New Jersey, where Antonoff and Qualley were holding their private wedding event. According to the Daily Mail, the rehearsal dinner boasted a star-studded guest list, including Lana Del Rey, Zoë Kravitz, and Channing Tatum.

However, based on the footage circulating on social media, it was clear that most people were there solely for Taylor Swift.

A fan account named Taygracie shared a video showing hundreds of Swifties flooding the roads and sidewalks outside the restaurant. The video also indicated the presence of several police vehicles, with authorities being called to handle the growing crowd, according to NME.

Representatives for Swift, Antonoff, and Qualley have not responded to Insider’s request for comment at this time.

In another video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the pop culture news account Pop Faction, a swarm of Swifties can be heard repeatedly chanting “Taylor.”

The footage of fans gathering outside the private event has received criticism from commentators who see it as inappropriate and an invasion of privacy, not just for Swift, but also for Antonoff and Qualley.

“Listen, I love Taylor Swift as much as anyone, but swarming a wedding she’s attending as a guest is incredibly disrespectful to Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley,” wrote one user in a post on X that garnered over 1,120 likes. “The audacity to think that is okay is wild.”

“Taylor Swift fans are the absolute worst,” another user tweeted. “To block the streets just to catch a glimpse of her and disrupt Jack Antonoff’s rehearsal dinner. Did you really think she was going to come out, wave, give a mini Eras tour on the street corner, and take some photos?”

On TikTok, creator Sussan Mourad compiled videos taken by fans outside the event, showing Swift’s low-key arrival with Kravitz and Tatum earlier in the day.

“The crowds weren’t really crazy at this point on her arrival, but when she left, you can see her face is shocked,” Mourad said.

Mourad noted that “Miss Americana,” the title of Swift’s 2020 documentary, started trending online after the rehearsal dinner. In the film, Swift opens up about public scrutiny and her desire to keep parts of her life private.

“These people clearly haven’t watched ‘Miss Americana’ and what Taylor had to say,” Mourad added.

This incident is not the first time devoted Swifties have faced backlash. In May, fans in New York City were called out for chasing Swift’s car and following her home after a studio session, as reported by Just Jared.

Some fans have gone to extreme lengths out of unwavering loyalty to Swift, including doxxing and sending death threats.
