Greta Gerwig recently shared that Timothée Chalamet expressed regret for not being a part of the “Barbie” movie after visiting the set.
In an interview with Hollywood First Look, Gerwig explained that Chalamet had visited the film location and was disappointed that he couldn’t have a role in the movie.
Gerwig also mentioned her attempt to include Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan, who are frequent collaborators, in the film through cameo appearances. However, they had to decline due to scheduling conflicts.
“I tried to get them both in it,” Gerwig expressed. “I really did, and they both couldn’t do it. Although Timothée did come by the set and then said, ‘Oh I should have been in this.’ And I was like, ‘I know! Why aren’t you in this?'”
Notably, both Chalamet and Ronan have previously starred in Gerwig’s critically-acclaimed films “Lady Bird” and “Little Women.”
Moreover, Gerwig emphasized that Chalamet and Ronan felt like her children, making it surreal for her to work on the “Barbie” film without them.
“It makes me feel like I’m without my children,” Gerwig expressed in the interview.
Chalamet and Ronan are not the only actors who missed out on being part of the “Barbie” film. Other notable names, including Anne Hathaway and Gal Gadot, were also considered for roles.
The “Barbie” movie has achieved tremendous success, surpassing the $1 billion milestone at the box office since its release in July.
