Ohio Police Officers Rescue Raccoon Trapped with Head Stuck in Jar

  • The Perkins Township PD in Ohio came to the rescue of a raccoon with a jar stuck on its head.
  • While refueling their vehicle, the officers encountered “Bandit”, the raccoon, who approached them for help.
  • After one officer successfully removed the jar, Bandit scurried away to safety.

Officers McDermott and Waechter from the Perkins Township Police Department in Ohio successfully freed a raccoon named “Bandit” from a jar, and the heartwarming incident was captured on body camera footage.

In a Facebook post, the police department expressed gratitude towards the officers and highlighted the unique nature of their work, stating that there is no typical day in law enforcement.

The footage shows Bandit approaching the officers with the jar stuck on its head. Officer McDermott gently removes the jar while speaking to the raccoon in a soothing manner. Bandit then scampers away across the parking lot, relieved from its predicament.

Bandit’s situation is not uncommon, as animals often require assistance when human trash becomes stuck on their heads. In previous incidents, a deer in Florida had its head stuck in a bag of Doritos, and a bear in Colorado had a Cheese Balls container stuck on its head.
