Kai Sotto has received medical clearance to join Gilas Pilipinas in their preparation for the Fiba World Cup 2023, which starts on August 25. The announcement was made by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio, who stated that Sotto’s doctors and the team’s medical team have cleared him after he experienced back spasms during his NBA Summer League stint.
During the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum, Panlilio confirmed that Sotto played in a recent practice and the doctors have reviewed his medical records and deemed him fit to play. Although the MRI results were not available, the focus now is on Sotto’s fitness and getting him in top shape. He has been cleared to compete in the remaining friendly matches against Ivory Coast, Montenegro, and Mexico before the World Cup.
