“In order for our team to succeed, our skill players need to embrace the idea that one person may have a lot of catches in one game, while others may have fewer,” expressed Carr. “This dynamic can change from week to week, but we have to play selflessly and support each other. I have confidence in our group’s ability to do that. We’ve seen it in action with Chris, A.T., Juwan, and Mike all contributing, and then Keith scoring a touchdown.”
“It’s a team effort, and when everyone puts in the work, everyone can reap the rewards,” Carr added. “We need our players to understand that this is the style of play we must embrace to achieve our goals.”
In addition, Sunday marked the first time that Carr’s family was able to attend a game where he started as the quarterback for the New Orleans team in the Superdome. Their excitement matched his own.
“It was a little strange for my family to see me in the Black and Gold uniform for the first time,” Carr shared, mentioning a conversation he had with fellow quarterback Jake Haener. “But personally, it felt right. After being in the same place for nine years, this change has brought about a sense of refreshment and rejuvenation. Putting on the uniform and stepping out onto the field as a Saint felt incredibly fulfilling. My wife was especially thrilled about today.”
“My three boys were extremely excited,” Carr continued, referring to his family’s support. “They were on the field before the game, and those moments will be cherished memories for them. They’ll probably know more about the game than I will.”
One of the standout memories for Carr will likely be when McCoy guided him to the facility. He shared that he had heard a story about quarterback Drew Brees almost being late for his Superdome debut because he got lost. To avoid a similar situation, Carr decided to follow McCoy from the team hotel.
“Sure enough, McCoy was there waiting for me,” Carr mentioned. “I followed him all the way to my parking spot. They had told me the story about Brees, so I made sure to have someone to follow. And who better than your center?”
