Authorities in Los Angeles County are seeking the public’s assistance in solving four unrelated unsolved homicides, one of which dates back more than 16 years. At a press conference held at the Hall of Justice in downtown Los Angeles, Sheriff Robert Luna appealed to the public for any information that could help bring closure to the victims’ families. He emphasized the importance of even the smallest piece of information to solve these crimes, as the victims were members of the community who were simply trying to live their lives.
Also present at the press conference were family members of the victims and Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón. Gascón acknowledged that while they can’t bring back the victims, their focus is on ensuring accountability though collective efforts.
Rewards have been offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for information regarding the following cases:
– Luis Sandoval, 70, was shot on February 25, 2007, while riding a bicycle on Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles at 5 a.m. It is believed that Sandoval was an innocent bystander caught in a shootout between rival tagging crews. A reward of $25,000 has been offered for any information related to the case.
– Keith Jackson, 43, was shot on December 28, 2016, at around 8 p.m. while sitting with two female friends in his parked vehicle on Alondra Boulevard in Compton. The shots were fired from another vehicle that pulled up alongside them before speeding off. Jackson succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A reward of $20,000 has been offered for any information leading to his killer.
– Estephan Hernandez, 21, was fatally shot on September 28, 2017, around 9:45 p.m. while sitting in a parked vehicle with a friend on East 148th Street in Compton. Gunfire erupted from another vehicle, resulting in Hernandez’s death and his friend being hospitalized. A reward of $10,000 has been offered in connection with this case.
– Michael Moreno, 35, was shot on December 23, 2018, outside a residence on South Acacia Street in the San Dimas area. Moreno lost his life, while his friend was hospitalized. A reward of $10,000 has been offered for any information related to this case.
