Travis Scott Holds Tight to No. 1 Spot with ‘Utopia’

Travis Scott has once again claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard album chart, while Morgan Wallen’s hit single “Last Night” continues its stronghold at the top for the 16th consecutive week.

Scott’s highly anticipated album “Utopia,” his first solo release in five years, has soared to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. The album has garnered the equivalent of 147,000 sales in the United States, including an impressive 146 million streams and 37,000 physical copies sold. This achievement is particularly noteworthy, as rap albums have been less prevalent on the charts in recent times, with other genres like country, pop, R&B, and Latin taking the spotlight. In fact, “Utopia” is the first rap album in over a year to spend more than a single week at No. 1. The last album to accomplish this feat was Tyler, the Creator’s “Call Me if You Get Lost” in April 2022, which returned to the top due to the delayed release of its vinyl version. Prior to that, Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” held the No. 1 spot for three weeks in September 2021 before reclaiming it for another two weeks.

Meanwhile, Wallen’s album “One Thing at a Time” holds steady at the No. 2 position, while his hit single “Last Night” maintains its reign at the top of the Hot 100 chart. With an impressive 16 weeks atop the singles chart, “Last Night” joins the ranks of other iconic songs like Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” from 2017 and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” from 1995. Only Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” has had a longer run at the top with 19 weeks in 2019.

In addition to these achievements, the “Barbie” soundtrack featuring Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, and Lizzo claims the No. 3 spot on the album chart. Notably, Taylor Swift also dominates the Top 10 with four albums: “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” at No. 4, “Midnights” at No. 5, “Lover” at No. 6, and “Folklore” at No. 9.

This week’s Billboard chart rankings showcase the dynamic and diverse landscape of the music industry, with Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen, and other notable artists achieving significant milestones and solidifying their positions at the top.
