Zuckerberg Urges Moving On from Musk Cage Fight

In a display of unexpected wit, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, used his own social media platform to respond to Elon Musk’s challenge. Zuckerberg posted on Sunday, stating, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on” (New York Times). The challenge to a cage fight between the two tech moguls had gained wide attention, but it seems that Zuckerberg is ready to put the idea to rest. He further added, “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me.”

Elon Musk had initially challenged Zuckerberg to a cage match in June, and until recently, both parties seemed interested in pursuing the idea. However, Zuckerberg accused Musk of being indecisive about setting a date, while Musk claimed he needed surgery before the fight could take place. In response, Musk mentioned that the hypothetical fight would be managed by their respective foundations and even discussed potential locations for the match with Italian government officials. Nevertheless, he emphasized the need for a few months of recovery from surgery. Zuckerberg, on the other hand, revealed that he had already offered a concrete date for the event, and UFC president Dana White had even suggested turning it into a legitimate charity match (Gizmodo). In Zuckerberg’s Sunday post, he expressed his disappointment with Musk’s changing demands and stated, “I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.” MarketWatch also seems to believe that this “stupid story of the summer” has come to an end (MarketWatch).
