Republican from Florida introduces impeachment articles against Joe Biden

Representative Greg Steube, a Republican from Florida, made a bold move by introducing articles of impeachment against President Biden before his Republican colleagues. Steube argued that it was high time for action, accusing Biden of complicity in his son Hunter’s alleged crimes and attempting to protect him from justice.

Steube emphasized, “It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden. He has tarnished the integrity of his office, brought shame to the Presidency, betrayed the trust of the American people, and acted in a manner that undermines the rule of law and justice.”

Steube filed four articles of impeachment against Biden, alleging high crimes and misdemeanors.

The first article accuses President Biden of abusing the power of his office by allegedly accepting bribes, engaging in Hobbs Act extortion, and committing honest services fraud. These charges stem from Biden’s alleged involvement in his family’s business dealings, including his son Hunter and brother James Biden’s purported attempt to sell access to then-Vice President Biden between 2009 and 2017 in exchange for financial gains and business opportunities from both foreign and domestic partners.

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Representative James Comer from Kentucky, released a memo claiming that foreign payments to the Biden family exceeded $20 million. However, Democrats argue that none of the evidence demonstrates President Biden accepting bribes or engaging in misconduct.

The second article accuses President Biden of obstructing justice based on IRS whistleblower testimony suggesting improper collusion between the Biden campaign and officials at the DOJ to interfere with investigations into tax crimes allegedly committed by Hunter Biden. The Justice Department and special counsel David Weiss, assigned to investigate Hunter Biden, have denied any interference from the Biden administration.

The third and fourth articles accuse Biden of “fraud” and financing Hunter Biden’s illicit drug use and encounters with prostitutes, respectively.

Steube exclaimed, “The evidence against the Biden Crime Family continues to mount, revealing their personal profit from Joe’s government positions through bribery, threats, and fraud. Joe Biden must not be allowed to remain in the White House, betraying our nation.”

On the same day, Steube introduced a bill requiring the Secret Service chief to provide a report on the illicit use of controlled substances in the White House. This action comes after the Secret Service closed its investigation into cocaine discovered at the White House last month without identifying a suspect. Steube named the bill the “Helping Understand Narcotics Traces at the Executive Residence (HUNTER) Act.”

Steube stated, “It is completely unacceptable that the United States Secret Service has failed to identify the individual responsible for bringing cocaine into one of the most highly secure buildings in the world. The American people deserve answers. My legislation demands information regarding the closed investigation into the July White House cocaine incident and focuses on Congress providing oversight to prevent any future illicit use of controlled substances within the White House.”

Steube’s articles of impeachment have taken precedence over at least four GOP-led committee investigations aiming to impeach Biden or his top officials. The White House has ridiculed these suggestions of removing President Biden from office.

CNN’s Jake Tapper dismisses revelations about the Biden family’s finances as “sleazy” rather than criminal during a clash with Comer.
