A New York Jets player cleverly found a way to watch himself on “Hard Knocks,” but it posed a challenge for his girlfriend and her arm.
The latest season of the HBO reality sports docuseries premiered this week and has already garnered positive reception for both the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers. The team, previously subject to ridicule, and the controversial quarterback have become more likable.
However, there is one issue: The Jets are unable to watch themselves on television because they lack HBO access at their training camp hotel in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Cornerback DJ Reed came up with a solution using his girlfriend’s phone and a FaceTime call. By holding the phone up to the TV, Reed was able to watch the show remotely.
Unfortunately, there were a few complications. Reed explained, “We don’t have HBO, and I don’t have HBO, so I had my girlfriend download it. She was just FaceTiming me [mimics holding a phone up to the TV] because I was in the hotel… Her hand started to get tired [mimics hand shaking], and I was like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa! Straighten the camera back up.'”
Reed also mentioned that he would need to rewatch the episode because his girlfriend kept pausing to text others during the show.
When Reed eventually gets the chance to watch the episode uninterrupted, he will likely notice the extensive coverage of Rodgers, portraying him in a more likable light. This positive portrayal has not only benefited Rodgers but has also gained the Jets new fans.
“I fell in love with the Jets team,” former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Domonique Foxworth expressed on ESPN after the first episode.
Now Reed has four days to come up with an improved solution for the second episode, which is set to air on Tuesday night.
