Goodwill Receives Generous Donation of a Bride’s Dress Prior to Her Wedding Day

  • An Arkansas bride’s wedding dress was mistakenly donated to Goodwill during a garage sale.
  • Through a clever social media campaign, the bride was able to locate her dress.
  • The bride was happily reunited with her dress and extended an invitation to the person who unknowingly purchased it.

An Arkansas bride narrowly escaped losing her wedding dress forever due to an unfortunate incident at a garage sale.

According to a report from 5 News Online, Bailey Dobson’s family held a garage sale in early August, mistakenly including her prom dresses among the items for sale.

After the garage sale concluded, the family decided to donate the unsold dresses to Goodwill. In an unfortunate mix-up, Dobson’s wedding gown for her upcoming nuptials was also included in the donation.

Upon discovering the dress was missing, Dobson expressed her distress to 5 News Online, saying, “I had a meltdown for sure. I had a little bit of a freakout.”

With her wedding approaching on December 19, Dobson realized that she did not have enough time to replace the dress, as it typically takes 9 to 12 months to create a wedding gown.

In a bid to recover the lost dress, the family turned to social media. Goodwill Industries of Arkansas also shared a plea for help on their Facebook page, spreading the word about the dress’s accidental donation.

The Facebook post read, “We need your help. A wedding dress intended for an upcoming wedding was accidentally donated and purchased at our Bentonville Walton Store & Donation Center on July 29. If you recognize or purchased this dress, please contact us privately. The family is willing to pay for its return.”

Thanks to the Facebook post from Goodwill, someone informed the Dobsons that they had seen the dress listed on eBay. They were able to reach out to the seller, who kindly agreed to remove the listing and return the dress, as reported by 5 News Online.

Dobson expressed her gratitude to the seller, stating, “She’s been amazing and super helpful. And we’ve appreciated every bit of it.” The dress was successfully returned on Monday.

In a gesture of appreciation, Dobson extended an invitation to the seller to attend her wedding, recognizing that the seller played a significant role in making the reunion happen. “We’re hoping that she will show up and support us because she did make the experience happen,” she said.

Dobson also expressed her appreciation in a comment on Goodwill’s Facebook post, thanking everyone for their assistance in tracking down the dress. She concluded, “Love you all! Thank you for taking the time to share, as well as all the thoughts and prayers!”

Insider reached out to Bailey Dobson for comment but did not receive a response.
