‘I will heal myself first’

Miss Tourism Philippines Herlene Budol, the comedian-beauty queen, recently made an interesting revelation about her future in beauty pageants. In an interview with TV hosts Kim Atienza and Susan Enriquez on the show “Dapat Alam Mo!,” Budol explained that she is taking a break from pageantry to enhance her skills rather than permanently retiring from it.

When asked if she is firm on saying goodbye to pageants, Budol initially responded with a hesitant “oo ata” (which means “maybe” in Filipino), before changing her answer to “maybe.” This sparked curiosity, and Atienza followed up with a question about her previous farewell on YouTube. Budol clarified that she made that statement because she thought she wouldn’t have the opportunity to represent the Philippines in an international competition. However, she didn’t disclose which specific pageant she will compete in.

Budol explained that she is waiting for the Miss Philippines Tourism franchise to be secured before competing internationally. She expressed her intention to rest and improve herself after that, focusing on her current endeavors and becoming smarter through learning and prayer.

It’s worth noting that Budol, who was crowned Miss Philippines Tourism 2023 last July, will not represent the Philippines in the Miss Tourism World pageant due to licensing matters. This was confirmed by Mike Sordilla, Chairman of Hiyas ng Pilipinas, who stated that they have the franchise licenses, but it seems there is confusion among people about which pageant Budol will participate in.

Previously, Budol announced in a vlog that she was bidding farewell to pageantry for good, realizing that she may not be capable of representing the country in international competitions.

In conclusion, Herlene Budol’s recent statement clarifies her stance on beauty pageants as she plans to take a break to improve her skills and wait for the right opportunity to compete on the international stage.
