“A good week for Threads,” Zuckerberg wrote. “The community here is on the trajectory
I expect to build a vibrant long-term app.”

Meta launched Threads in July to great excitement, quickly climbing the ranks as Zuckerberg
capitalized on Twitter’s struggles and increasing criticism of Elon Musk, its principal owner.
However, engagement on Threads has declined significantly in the past weeks as the novelty
wore off and users became frustrated with its limited functionality.

Advertisers and creators have expressed the need for Threads to have features that facilitate
searching for trending topics and finding previous posts in order for it to become a relevant service.
Additionally, web accessibility is crucial for Meta to truly compete with Twitter, which has long
been popular on desktop platforms for work-related activities.

During Meta’s earnings call last week, Zuckerberg expressed optimism about the future of Threads,
mentioning that it was developed by a small team. However, he stated that the app will not be monetized
until it reaches a larger and more established user base.

“There’s a lot of work ahead, but I’m excited about the team’s pace of shipping,” Zuckerberg wrote on Friday.
