Hunter Biden is reportedly facing allegations of leaving his $25,000-per-month California rental in a state of disarray and failing to pay several months’ worth of rent. Biden and his wife, Melissa Cohen, rented a luxurious property overlooking the Grand Canal in Venice Beach in 2021. However, their stay quickly turned into a headache for the owner, Jonathan Neman, co-founder and CEO of Sweetgreen, who ultimately decided to sell the property at a significant loss. According to a source, the couple showed a lack of respect for Neman and his wife’s property, with Melissa being described as rude and entitled. They apparently damaged the stereo equipment and were uncooperative when it came to repairs. Additionally, they left the place in a dirty condition. After Biden and Cohen moved out in 2022, Neman sold the three-story home for $3.94 million, incurring a loss compared to the $4.85 million he initially paid for it in 2017. The former tenants allegedly owed Neman approximately $80,000 in unpaid rent, equivalent to three months’ worth. It is claimed that they only paid for half of the time they lived there before relocating to Malibu. Despite the outstanding rent, Neman chose not to take legal action against Hunter Biden, as he did not require the money and found the situation embarrassing. The property has since been repainted black and is now worth $4.2 million. It occupies 3,375 square feet and features a renovated roof deck. Inside, the two-bedroom residence boasts high acoustic ceilings, a contemporary white limestone floor, and a hidden TV built into the living room wall. The primary bedrooms offer different views, one of the pool and the other of the historic canal. There is also a spiral staircase leading to a rooftop terrace. The home is situated just a block away from the beach. Hunter Biden has been vocal about his struggles with addiction in the past. He shares a son with Melissa Cohen and has three daughters from his previous marriage. The recent news of his alleged negligence and unpaid rent adds to the controversies surrounding him and his family.
