Janet Yang, an esteemed film producer known for her work on movies like “The Joy Luck Club” and “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” has been reelected as the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, according to an announcement by the Academy on Tuesday.
This marks Yang’s second term as president, and she has already been serving as a member of the Academy’s Board of Governors for five years.
In addition to reelecting Yang, the board has also selected eight committee chairs to serve as vice presidents:
– Bonnie Arnold, who will chair the Membership Committee;
– Howard Berger, who will chair the Museum Committee;
– Brooke Breton, who will chair the Education and Outreach Committee;
– Tom Duffield, who will chair the Finance Committee;
– DeVon Franklin, who will chair the Equity and Inclusion Committee;
– Lynette Howell Taylor, who will chair the Awards Committee;
– Howard A. Rodman, who will chair the Governance Committee; and
– Kim Taylor-Coleman, who will chair the History and Preservation Committee.
In a statement, Academy CEO Bill Kramer expressed his excitement about the new board officers. He praised Yang’s leadership and highlighted the governors’ dedication to elevate the work of the Academy’s global membership and film community, emphasize the industry’s rich history, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and promote equity and inclusion in all aspects of the organization.
Board officers serve one-year terms and can hold the same office for a maximum of four consecutive years.
