An individual who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in Watts over the weekend has been identified. Furthermore, the investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
The shooting took place at 10:55 p.m. on Saturday in the 2100 block of East 99th Street, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim, identified as Kyimonte Johnson, a 19-year-old resident of Los Angeles, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. In addition to Johnson, three other individuals – a man and two women – transported themselves to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner and the LAPD.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a group of people had gathered at a residential area to watch a sporting event when several suspects on foot entered the premises and began firing at the gathering, resulting in injuries to the four victims. Subsequently, the suspects fled on foot and left the scene in a vehicle.
At present, there is no available description of the suspects or the vehicle they used to escape. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
