Margot Robbie Completes a Full Workout while Wearing Her ‘Barbie’ Hair and Costume

  • Margot Robbie flaunted her dedication to her role as “Barbie” by working out in full hair, makeup, and costume while filming.
  • According to her trainer, David Higgins, Robbie kicked off her heels and hit the Pilates Reformer.
  • Higgins recalled their quick 30-minute express workout, with Robbie insisting, “Don’t make me sweaty!”

Margot Robbie fully embraced her role as “Barbie” — even in the gym.

David Higgins, Robbie’s longtime trainer, recently shared his experience training the “Barbie” cast with Insider, giving some behind-the-scenes insights.

One memorable moment was when Robbie, in full “Barbie” attire, took off her heels and engaged in a complete Pilates workout.

“She was dressed up in one of the ‘Barbie’ outfits, full wig and everything,” reminisced Higgins. “She jumps on the Reformer and we do a quick 30-minute express workout. She said, ‘Don’t make me sweaty!’ “

“Margot truly understands her body and knows what it needs,” added Higgins. “She finds ways to incorporate exercise whenever possible. It was surreal talking to her while she worked out on the Reformer, feeling amazed by her dedication.”

Higgins, the author of “The Hollywood Body Plan,” regrets not capturing a photo of that iconic moment. However, he did manage to take a picture after Robbie outperformed the “Barbie” cast in a plank challenge.

While Higgins dominated the challenge with a plank lasting five minutes and 32 seconds, Robbie held her own by maintaining her plank for four minutes and 10 seconds. Her co-stars Ryan Gosling (three minutes and two seconds), Hari Nef (two minutes and 15 seconds), and her husband Tom Ackerley (one minute and 36 seconds) were left behind.

The “Barbie” cast bonded over workouts during filming, creating a lighthearted atmosphere in the gym. This was a departure from the darker tone of superhero movies that Higgins had previously worked on, such as “The Batman.”

“What made ‘Barbie’ so enjoyable was the subject matter itself, which encouraged a sense of fun and levity,” explained Higgins. “In contrast, movies like ‘Batman’ have a darker tone that permeates all aspects, making it quite a different experience. With ‘Barbie’ being so pink, it influenced every aspect of the film.”

Robbie remained fully committed to her role as Barbie throughout filming, instituting mandatory pink days on set, consuming special tea to maintain glowing skin, and dedicating four days a week to Pilates sessions with Higgins.

“She’s always up for everything,” affirmed Higgins.
