The Ohio Wedding of Rebecca Woodfork and Jennifer Ziegler

“I was taken aback by the overwhelming amount of love and support I received throughout that entire journey,” she expressed.

In the delightful month of May 2021, Ms. Woodfork and Ms. Ziegler embarked on a 10-day vacation in the captivating destination of St. Lucia. “We simply indulged in the enchanting melodies of Ella Fitzgerald, spent our days by the pool, and savored the joy of cooking together,” Ms. Woodfork reminisced. “That’s where our love blossomed.”

Following their unforgettable trip, Ms. Woodfork accompanied Ms. Ziegler to New York. As an interracial couple, they were pleasantly surprised by the warm reception they received from strangers on the bustling streets of the city. “People approached us to bestow compliments like ‘You two are a stunning couple’,” Ms. Woodfork recounted. “It truly felt like we were leading by example.”

While in New York, she made preparations to depart for Atlanta, where she would dedicate at least six months to work on a film. For nearly a decade, Ms. Woodfork had meticulously built her career in the film and television industry, constantly moving from one set to another and working tirelessly for 80 to 90 hours per week.

“Finding the time to accommodate another person wasn’t even a consideration in my mind,” she admitted.

However, the transformative trip to St. Lucia, her first vacation in years, brought her to the realization that she needed a pause from her profession to prioritize her personal life. It led her to decline the job offer and spend the summer with Ms. Ziegler in the idyllic town of Provincetown, Massachusetts. “In the early stages of a relationship, one needs nourishment and sunlight,” she explained. “It was the best decision I could have made. I’m not sure we would be where we are today if I hadn’t taken that step.”

During the early days of autumn 2022, Ms. Woodfork and Ms. Ziegler made the heartfelt decision to tie the knot. They collaborated on the design of their engagement rings, opting for elegant platinum bands adorned with dazzling diamonds. Following the design process, Ms. Woodfork held the rings close and said to Ms. Ziegler, “You won’t know when or how, but we will become engaged.”
