Authorities make gruesome discovery; remains found of Monrovia hiker who went missing

After an exhaustive search effort, investigators have made a significant discovery by locating the remains of a man who had been missing for nearly two weeks. The man, Colin Walker of South Pasadena, had gone for a hike on the Clamshell Trail in Monrovia on July 15. The recovery of his remains took place in the Lower Clamshell Area of the Angeles National Forest.

According to South Pasadena Deputy City Manager Domenica Megerdichian, the location of the discovery and the items found at the scene strongly suggest that the remains are indeed those of Walker. However, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an investigation to officially identify the remains and determine the cause and manner of death.

During the search operation, the South Pasadena Police Department received assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department Air Operations Section, and Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team. Their collaborative efforts have been instrumental in this ongoing investigation.

If you have any information regarding Walker’s disappearance, please contact the South Pasadena Police Department at 626-403-7297. Alternatively, you can provide anonymous tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
