On the same day that Elon Musk surprised everyone by rebranding Twitter as “X” and removing its famous bird logo, TikTok has announced a new feature that allows users to post text-based messages.

TikTok, the popular app known for its lip-synced dances and quirky challenges, did not provide much explanation for the new feature. However, the company stated that it is expanding the boundaries of content creation by showcasing the written creativity that users have previously shared through comments and video captions.

The announcement of this new feature was made by TikTok on Monday.

It is still unclear how well users have embraced text posts since they were introduced. Searching for variations of the term “text post” mostly yielded examples of videos that focus on text message conversations for comedic effect. There were also some users who bravely offered video tutorials on how to make text posts.
