Archie Panjabi can be seen in the thrilling series “Hijack.” This high-altitude, nerve-wracking thriller has captivated viewers with its brilliant script, keeping them at the edge of their seats. When Panjabi received the first few scripts, she was so hooked that she demanded to know the fate of the flight’s passengers before agreeing to star in the show. Curiosity drove her to read episodes four to seven before giving her confirmation. With a real-time unfolding of events, “Hijack” follows the passengers and crew of a hijacked flight from Dubai to London.

In this series, Idris Elba portrays Sam Nelson, a businessman who uses his analytical skills to save lives, secretly transmitting messages to his ex-wife Marsha, played by Christine Adams. Marsha then passes on the information to her new boyfriend, Daniel, a police detective portrayed by Max Beesley. Daniel’s former girlfriend Zahra, played by Panjabi, is a counterterrorism agent. Together, Daniel and Zahra put their personal feelings aside to ensure the safe landing of the hijacked plane. Directed by Jim Field Smith and written by George Kay, the series also features Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel, and Ben Miles.

The cast and crew of “Hijack” experienced intense moments during filming, particularly in scenes where they were confined to small spaces, mirroring the tight quarters of an aircraft. However, amidst the tension and long hours, they found camaraderie and had fun on set. Panjabi expressed her intrigue in portraying Zahra’s working relationship with Daniel despite the wounds from their failed romance. Both characters put aside their differences for the greater good, showcasing their professionalism and ability to work together effectively.
