Man Convicted of Shooting Gun on Golden West College Campus

A 25-year-old man from Huntington Beach has been charged with firing a gun on the campus of Golden West College. Talon Brunelle, who has a felony conviction, is facing charges of grossly negligent discharge of a firearm, possessing a loaded firearm on a college campus, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Brunelle pleaded not guilty at his hearing in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana. His pretrial hearing is scheduled for August 4th in the West Justice Center in Westminster.

Huntington Beach Police Department received a call of shots fired at the college campus around 2:30 p.m. on July 19th. According to Jessica Cuchilla, the public information officer for the department, a witness reported seeing someone acting suspiciously and firing a shot into the air.

On Friday, police were called to a parking structure on Edinger Avenue to investigate a suspicious man with a gun. The officers realized that he matched the description of the suspect from Wednesday’s incident. Brunelle was arrested at the scene, and the police allegedly found a gun and other evidence linking him to the shooting.
