Don’t Hold Yourself Responsible: ‘The Cheating Game’ Uncovers Infidelity Victims

Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose have joined forces for GMA Public Affairs’ debut film, “The Cheating Game.” Julie Anne values the sanctity of romantic relationships and considers infidelity to be a nonnegotiable issue. In an online conference for the upcoming romantic drama, Julie Anne emphasized that once cheating occurs, there’s no going back. Although she didn’t share a personal experience, she believes that most people have encountered cheating in some form. So, how does one cope with such a situation? Julie Anne believes that surrounding yourself with a support system of friends, family, and loved ones is crucial during difficult times.

Echoing Julie Anne’s sentiments, Rayver, her real-life boyfriend and co-star, acknowledged that experiences, even the tough ones, can teach valuable lessons. He emphasized that learning from these experiences can make individuals better equipped to handle similar situations in future relationships. Alongside Julie Anne and Rayver, supporting actors Martin del Rosario and Winwyn Marquez shared their perspectives on cheating. They believe that cheating goes beyond having a physical affair and can also involve lies, concealment of the truth, or omission of important details. Martin stressed that lying is also a form of cheating and highlighted the importance of honesty in relationships.

Winwyn added that being lied to can be just as hurtful, and repeated occurrences may lead to the end of a relationship. In moments of heartbreak, Winwyn prefers to express her emotions fully, allowing herself to cry and release the sadness. She then focuses her energy on activities like singing and dancing to improve herself.

Martin emphasized that, like Julie Anne, he considers cheating to be nonnegotiable. While forgiveness is possible, Martin believes there can be no reconciliation after cheating. He advised against blaming oneself or letting insecurities take root. Instead, he encouraged individuals to focus on self-improvement and not let one person’s actions affect their self-esteem.

Julie Anne emphasized that forgiveness is essential but also highlighted the importance of forgiving oneself. Taking time to heal and forgive the person who wronged you is crucial, but self-forgiveness is equally significant. Julie Anne hopes that individuals can move on from such experiences and avoid repeating them.

Winwyn urged people not to be afraid of falling in love or being loved, as fear can hinder future relationships. She emphasized the importance of not letting past incidents affect one’s willingness to try again.

“The Cheating Game,” conceptualized by Shao Masula and directed by Rod Marmol, is GMA Public Affairs’ first foray into the big screen. The film explores the psyche of two betrayed individuals and delves into the complexities of navigating the dating world after being cheated on. Described as a more mature and realistic depiction of modern-day dating, the story follows Hope, played by Julie Anne, who seeks to change the world through her NGO. When a sex video involving her fiancé Brian, played by Martin, surfaces, Hope embarks on a new career as a content producer. Along the way, she meets Miguel (Rayver), a successful businessman who may seem like an ideal partner but holds some secrets. Winwyn portrays Vanessa, a career woman intertwined in their lives.

Julie Anne expressed her excitement and gratitude for working on this project, as it allows her and Rayver to showcase their acting skills beyond their usual performances.
