Democrat Dan Goldman delivers a significant blow to Joe Biden in whistleblower hearing

One of the fundamental lessons taught to law students is the importance of not asking a question without already knowing the answer. This lesson was glaringly evident during Wednesday’s hearing, which involved two whistleblowers discussing political interference in the Hunter Biden investigation. Rather than addressing the substance of the allegations, most Democrats focused on unrelated topics such as systemic racism and Donald Trump. However, Rep. Dan Goldman of New York took a different approach and potentially dealt a significant blow to the Democrats’ defense of President Biden.

Goldman attempted to establish that there was no evidence of President Biden’s personal involvement in his son’s alleged felonies. He highlighted a WhatsApp message supposedly sent by Hunter Biden to a Chinese official with foreign intelligence contacts. The message stated that Hunter was with his father and wanted to understand why a commitment had not been fulfilled. It went on to threaten consequences for anyone disregarding Hunter’s instructions. This message, which contradicts the President’s denial of any knowledge or involvement, was largely ignored by most Democrats.

Goldman then questioned IRS investigator Gary Shapley about his suggestion that Joe Biden had discussed his son’s foreign dealings. Shapley expressed willingness to explain, but Goldman interrupted him, claiming there was no time for explanations. Despite the potential danger, Goldman persevered. He argued that references to Joe sitting next to his son did not necessarily imply a discussion about business. He also referred to a lunch where Joe Biden met with Chinese executives, using testimony from Biden associate Rob Walker to support his point. Shapley stated that although this did not prove Joe Biden’s involvement, it did reveal that Hunter had informed his father about his business plans.

Throughout this hearing, it became evident that Joe Biden had repeatedly denied any involvement or knowledge of his son’s deals, despite mounting evidence suggesting otherwise. References to President Biden as the “Big Guy” in emails and the revelation that Hunter had paid portions of his father’s expenses and taxes added to the suspicion. There were attempts to avoid directly implicating Joe Biden in these transactions, as seen in an email advising against mentioning his involvement. Testimony from business associate Tony Bobulinski further claimed that he had met with Joe Biden to discuss these deals. Additionally, audiotapes of President Biden discussing coverage of his son’s dealings and his uncle Jim Biden discussing financial assistance further reinforced the allegations.

The culmination of this evidence was when Goldman elicited testimony regarding Joe Biden’s attendance at a lunch with Chinese businessmen, specifically arranged for the purpose of establishing new business deals. This meeting was previously described by witnesses and discussed by whistleblowers, but Goldman effectively tied it all together. Unfortunately, his time ran out before a conclusive case for appointing a special counsel could be made.
