Margot Robbie acknowledges the internet’s fascination with her feet, but she embraces the attention.
During an interview with CinemaBlend, the Australian actress shared her first encounter with this interest. “The very first time I Googled myself, you know how when you type something into Google and it predicts what the rest of it is going to be? I’d started working and I was on some things and I hadn’t Googled myself before, and so I wrote in ‘Margot Robbie’ and before I finished writing ‘Robbie,’ ‘Margot Robbie feet’ came up,” Robbie recalled.
Curiosity led her to click on the search suggestion, where she discovered pictures and videos zooming in on her feet. Robbie admitted, “Oh wow, this is like a thing. I didn’t realize.”
Robbie believes her involvement in popular films that feature shots of her feet has further fueled this fascination. She said, “I have to say, I’m really flattered that people are excited about my feet. I think that’s lovely. I am, genuinely. I don’t feel weird about it. I am actually like, ‘That’s nice.'”
Recently, Robbie’s feet garnered attention due to her role as Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film. Fans were captivated by the opening scene in the main trailer, which showcased Robbie’s foot maintaining the iconic Barbie arch even after she stepped out of her high-heeled pink shoe.
Clarifying the process behind that scene, Robbie revealed in an interview with Fandango that it involved multiple takes and no special effects. She explained, “I walked up, we had little sticky bits on the floor, double-sided tape for the shoes, so they wouldn’t come off, so I could get my feet out of them. And I was holding on to, like, a bar. But that’s it. I wasn’t in a harness or anything like that. I just walked up, kind of held on to the bar above [the] camera.”
This is not the first occasion where Robbie’s feet have garnered attention on the big screen. In Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” she uses her stiletto to fend off Leonardo DiCaprio’s character. Similarly, in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” she rests her dirty, bare feet on the seat in front of her. James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” showcases Robbie’s character, Harley Quinn, using her feet to free herself from captivity.
During her appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Robbie confirmed performing the intricate foot stunt herself. She jokingly remarked, “I’m very dexterous with my toes. I could braid someone’s hair with my toes, I reckon.”
