Ciaran Keating, who was in his 50s, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision in Co Mayo.
His wife, alongside the driver and passenger of the other vehicle, also sustained injuries in the incident.
Expressing his deep sorrow on Instagram, Duffy stated, “I am unable to comprehend the immense loss and devastation experienced by my brother @rokeating and the entire Keating family.”
He further reminisced about Ciaran’s invaluable contribution during the early days of their journey, stating, “During our tours, you embraced the role of a great guide, supporting and helping us naive, young individuals. May you reunite with your mother, Marie, in heaven.”
Marie Keating, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 1996, sadly passed away from the disease at the age of 51 in February 1998.
In the years following her death, the Keating family established the Marie Keating Foundation to raise awareness about breast cancer symptoms and provide support to those undergoing treatment.
Expressing their grief, the cancer charity stated, “The Marie Keating Foundation team and board are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Ciaran Keating.”
They highlighted Ciaran’s unwavering support for their cause and his involvement as a relief driver in their mobile information unit. Ciaran had recently joined them in celebrating the foundation’s 25th anniversary at their annual celebrity golf classic in the K-Club.
The charity extended their deepest sympathies to Ciaran’s wife, children, father, siblings, and extended family and friends.
The collision occurred on Saturday afternoon at Ballymiles, near Swinford, on the N5 road.
Irish authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
