Collaboration between Microsoft and Sony brings Call of Duty to consoles

Microsoft and Sony Collaborate to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation Consoles

In a collaborative move, Microsoft and Sony have reached an agreement to ensure that Call of Duty remains available on Sony’s PlayStation gaming consoles.

This development comes as Microsoft seeks to address concerns from competition regulators regarding its £60 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the maker of the popular video game.

Regulators were worried that the acquisition could stifle competition in the gaming market and potentially restrict access to popular games on other consoles owned by Microsoft, such as Xbox.

To appease regulators, Microsoft announced its agreement with Sony to maintain Call of Duty availability on Sony devices.

Earlier this month, a US appeals court cleared the path for the completion of the largest-ever gaming deal, dismissing attempts to block the merger.

In the UK, the Competition and Markets Authority previously blocked the deal in April, citing concerns over reduced innovation and limited gaming choices for UK consumers.

Microsoft is now focused on addressing the concerns of British regulators to ensure the deal’s approval.
