Wednesday to Reveal Emmy Nominations

The highly acclaimed series “Succession” is expected to receive a nomination for the outstanding drama series at the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The HBO show, which follows a wealthy family that owns a global media company, has been recognized in this category for its first three seasons, winning the last two.

Among the other contenders, the AMC crime drama “Better Call Saul” and Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” have the chance to be nominated again. Last year’s winner, “The Crown,” is also eligible for a nomination after not releasing new episodes during the previous eligibility period.

The dark comedy-drama anthology “The White Lotus” from HBO Max is poised for a nomination after receiving awards at the Screen Actors Guild and Producers Guild ceremonies. Additionally, several new shows like Disney+’s “Star Wars: Andor,” HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” Apple TV+’s “Bad Sisters,” and HBO’s “The Last of Us” are potential contenders for the outstanding drama series category.

Notably, no major broadcast network series has been nominated since 2019, with “This Is Us” being the last. However, Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso” is expected to secure a nomination for its third season in the outstanding comedy series category.

Other eligible shows from last year include “Abbott Elementary,” “Barry,” “Hacks,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

In the limited or anthology series category, potential nominees include Netflix’s “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” Netflix’s “Beef,” Apple TV+’s “Black Bird,” Amazon Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & the Six,” Max’s “Love & Death,” Hulu’s “Fleishman Is In Trouble,” and Showtime’s “George & Tammy.”

The outstanding game show category has been added to the Primetime Emmys, resulting in the renaming of the outstanding competition series category to outstanding reality competition program. Favorites like “The Amazing Race” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” are expected to secure nominations.

Finally, Yvette Nicole Brown and Television Academy Chair Frank Scherma will announce the nominations at a virtual ceremony. The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are set to be presented on September 18th, with the Creative Arts Emmys taking place on September 9th and 10th. However, these events might be impacted by potential strikes from the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
