Andrew Tate receives $20K through Twitter’s content creator program

Self-proclaimed misogynist, Andrew Tate, recently revealed that he received over $20,000 in ad revenue from Elon Musk’s new content-creator plan on Twitter. This came just a day before Tate was sued in a sex trafficking case, resulting in his imprisonment in Romania. Despite facing rape and human trafficking charges, Tate remains active on social media and shared a screenshot of his earnings. Twitter congratulated the controversial influencer, who has over 7.2 million followers, on the $20,379 deposit. Tate expressed that every penny would go towards his philanthropic organization, tatepledge.com. The funds were paid out through his Stripe account, mandatory for creators participating in Twitter’s ad revenue-sharing plan.

After being banned from Twitter in 2017 for violating the platform’s terms of service with derogatory remarks about women, Tate’s account was reinstated in November 2022, following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. Musk introduced a new payment scheme for content creators, which Tate now benefits from. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO had announced the plan in June, stating that verified creators would be paid for ads served in their replies. However, eligibility criteria include being at least 18 years old, actively using Twitter for at least three months, completing all profile information, and connecting a verified Stripe account.

It remains unclear how strictly these requirements are enforced, considering Tate’s past violations. When seeking comment from Twitter, The Post received an auto-reply with a poop emoji, which has been the press line’s response since Musk took over. It appears that prominent right-wing accounts are the first to benefit from the new payment scheme, including Tate, an account under the name “End Wokeness,” conservative commentator Ian Miles Cheong, Republican YouTuber Benny Johnson, and right-wing pundit Rogan O’Handley.

While the exact process of ad revenue distribution and the order of payments remain unclear, it is evident that these right-wing voices are benefiting from the scheme. This raises questions about how beneficiaries are determined and when they will receive their funds. Despite the controversies surrounding these individuals, Twitter continues to make payouts through the ad revenue program introduced by Musk.
